Cheluh Dancers

Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 14 October 2007 in People & Portrait.

I believe these guys are Cheluh Dancers, but I'm not sure. They truly are some of the most annoying inhabitants of Place Djemaa el Fna in Marrakech; once they see a tourist coming, they immediately rush over, shake the tassels on their hats, beat their symbals, then demand money. You quickly learn to listen out for them and keep out of their way, but it's not always possible!

Still, they make for a nice picture!

As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Nice capture! One can see they are "hunting" for their next prey...

@Wolfgang Prigge: Yep, they never stop! Thanks for your comment Wolfgang

They stand out so well from the plain background. I suppose you could try something tricky in postprocessing to deal with the missing tiles on the right -- and even the shadow in the background, although as it is, it's natural, which may be more acceptable to many, anyway. Just a thought, and not really a criticism. A really good capture.

@Andrew Gould: Thanks for your feedback Andrew, I was pretty happy with the way the shot came out, so I did'nt want to play with it too much, unlike yesterdays shot!
