Rusty #2Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 18 January 2008 in Architecture. The same shot as yesterday, but IN B&W. Not sure which one I prefer! Constructive criticism (or just downright criticism!) is welcome and appreciated for all my shots! As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaI much prefer yesterday's shot, Dave. It had so much more life, color and texture. 18 Jan 2008 7:48am @Michael Skorulski: I think you're right Michael, but I still think this has something going for it! martie from JapanWell Dave, you certainly don't make it easy - do you? I really liked yesterdays - I loved the rust and the way it bled into the wood. But this is a great B&W. I didn't really notice the stones yesterday. So I think I like them both equally, but for entirely different reasons. 18 Jan 2008 8:17am @martie: Thanks for the feedback Martie Steven from Montreal, CanadaThis is nice but I agree with Michael. The color of the rusted metal really adds to the shot in color. 18 Jan 2008 10:55am @Steven: Thanks for the feedback Steven Ina from Krugersdorp, South AfricaNope, this one don't do it for me... definately the colored version Dave! 18 Jan 2008 6:18pm @Ina: Thanks for the feedback Ina! Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaPerhaps a tighter crop would have done it for me, no sky and more emphasis on the rocks. 18 Jan 2008 9:33pm @Graham Russon: Interesting point Graham, I might give it a try! Melissa from Layton, UT, United StatesI actually like the B&W. It brings the focus to the fence instead of to the sky etc. Nice shot. 18 Jan 2008 9:49pm @Melissa: Thanks Melissa @Michael: Thanks Michael standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceDefinitly yesterday's one Dave. B&W seems to flatten the image 18 Jan 2008 10:05pm @standley: Thanks for the feedback Standley Forouz from GermanyI like the colour of natiure in your pictures. By B & W it looks more rigid and unknown. 18 Jan 2008 11:08pm @Forouz: Interesting view Forouz! Rags from Plano, United StatesThough i am a great fan of B/W images, this image is best when it is colored. The B/W image seems to make invisible the details in the image that made it stand out as a unique image. For example, the rust that is on the wood just looks like a stain in the B/W image. It's a cool image, but the Color pic shows us your observant eye which pays attention to detail. 18 Jan 2008 11:42pm @Rags: I think I agree with you Rags, I still like the B&W though! amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaOk, I loved yesterday's... But I'm IN LOVE with today's!!! The b/w just gives it such incredible texture that you notice more so. As well you just feel chillier with the salty ocean breeze blowing... not to mention the mysterious shadowy figures in the background. And I now see I'm the only one going ga-ga over today's... hmmm, I never was a conformist!! LOL 19 Jan 2008 1:33am @amy: Thanks for the feedback Amy Anne from White Rock, CanadaWell! Yesterday's is nice and shows the rust color - but a tad too busy with all the different coloured textures in it - kinda takes away from the "Rust". This black and white is gorgeous - full of textures - but not fighting with each other for attention! I'll have to tell Amy she wasn't the only one after all 19 Jan 2008 3:33am @Anne: Thanks for the feedback Anne, seems to be a divided opinion on this! Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanWell...the previous one is cheerful, this one is dramatic! The previous one means joys, this one exudes desolation. Two interpretations of the same shot.....what a difference colour makes! 20 Jan 2008 8:39am @Japanalia: Thanks for your comment! |
