Wild HorsesPosted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 28 January 2008 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio. Not alot to say, other than I quite like this one! Constructive criticism (or just downright criticism!) is welcome and appreciated for all my shots! As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaThe water effect adds wonderful swift flowing action to the shot. I agree. This is a very pleasing shot. 28 Jan 2008 6:40am @Michael Skorulski: Thanks Michael @Steven: It was Steven, you should've seen the dam it was coming from! Aaron Schmidt from Auckland, New ZealandI think I would have levelled the horizon. And since the stream is the interesting part of this photo, would have been nice to see more of it ... the trees in the top 10% of the image don't add much to the scene. But a nice shot nonetheless. I like it. 28 Jan 2008 10:17am @Aaron Schmidt: Thanks for the feedback Aaron Laurent from Lyon, FranceI do agree a litle bit with Aaron. Maybe there is a little bit too much trees nevertheless without trees the shot would have no intrest a all. I like the effect on the wave you choosed. With a longer exposure you would have had an other effect (not better) The impression on this one in very good : "wild horses" indeed 28 Jan 2008 12:38pm @Laurent: Thanks for the feedback Laurent! Oswegan from Lake Oswego, United StatesGreat motion shot and nice b&w treatment. 28 Jan 2008 4:51pm @Oswegan: Thanks Oswegan MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomA beautiful shot, I love the ethreal effect the water water has, I great title too. 28 Jan 2008 5:06pm @MaryB: Thanks Mary amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaExcellent job with the water, the framing, and the b/w conversion (which I think makes this image even better). I would like to see more of the stream, tho'. You have some excellent dappled shadows to the mid left on the water that are quite wonderful. 28 Jan 2008 5:26pm @amy: Thanks for the feedback Amy @e.: Thanks E! Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaA great shot, and the bw does it well. Dont agree with cropping the trees, you would lose the impact. Good title. 28 Jan 2008 7:47pm @Graham Russon: Thanks Graham @Michael: Thanks Michael @Reza: Thanks Reza @Brites: Thanks Brites Jon from Basingstoke, United KingdomGood caption and very clever use of the shutter. Am I right in thinking to get the blurred effect on the water you use a very slow shutter speed and best to use the cameras timer or a remote? Was any filters used? I know of lots of areas likes this so I hope mine come as as well. As with all photography practice makes perfect. 22 May 2008 1:46pm @Jon: It is best to use the camera on a remote or timer, along with a tripod. I bought a wireless remote for about 10 pounds off amazon that does the job. I didn't use a filter for this one because it was such a dark day, but I use ND grads and polarisers in other shots to produce the same effect |
