Stonehenge #4

Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 13 February 2008 in Landscape & Rural.

Again, like yesterday, This is the same shot as seen here, but converted to B&W just to see what it looks like!

As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

e. from New York, NY, United States

Great conversion! The rocks look really intense.

Dimitrios from ATHENS, Greece

minimalistic as this important monument

@Dimitrios: Thanks Dimitrios

Steven from Montreal, Canada

I like how dark the sky is, kind of foreboding. Love the sidelight!

@Steven: Thanks Steven

T-Daddy from Dachsbach, nähe Erlangen, Germany

Klasse gemacht. Du hattest die gleiche Idee wie ich in schwarz / weiß umwandel und etwas grain dazugemischt, schon ist die Aufnahme auf alt gemacht. Klasse

Same Photo but Different Look!
Nice B&W!
I also like the dark sky and the shadows of the rocks.

Tracey from White Hall, United States

I still am going for the black and white. Nothing wrong with the color, I just like the moodiness of the conversion. Well done!

@Tracey: Thanks Tracey

ManuelaR from Hainburg, Germany

They really look like completely two different takes! The b&w seems more intense ;)

@ManuelaR: Thanks for the feedback Manuela

Anne from White Rock, BC, Canada

I like both shots! Really great pics of Stonehenge. Although I am a black and white fan, I believe the color version has more detail in the stone! Perhaps those black shadowed areas could be lifted with a little less contrast! Not too much mind you or it would lose its impact! :-)

@Anne: Might give it a try Anne, thanks for the feedback!

Michael from Wuppertal, Germany

Great, I prefer this one!

13 Feb 2008 8:34pm

@Michael: Thanks Michael

Graham Russon from Cape Town, South Africa

Prefer the colour one, this is too dark for my liking. Maybe a more bluer black (if that makes sense)

13 Feb 2008 8:39pm

@Graham Russon: I think it does Graham!

MaryB from Staffordshire, United Kingdom

It's the colour one for me too Dave. The stones connect more with the blue sky and green grass, if that makes sence.

13 Feb 2008 9:41pm

@MaryB: I think it does Mary, thanks for the comment!

amy from Rocky Mountain House, Canada

Whereas I prefer the starkness in this one... again, more drama. Shrug.. I've always got to be contrary! LOL

Thanks Dave for always being so honest on my shots... really do appreciate your comments! ;-)

@amy: No problem Amy, thanks for your feedback on all mine aswel!

Tse Min from Melbourne, Australia

hands down, b&w, yet again.

this one brings out the rocks, while on the colour shot, the colours seems to take away the focus from the rocks. the colours still look good, but it just gives a different feel.

@Tse Min: Thanks for the feedback Tse

gandz from Kharkiv, Ukraine
