Broken Bike

Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 14 February 2008 in Transportation.

The Environment Agency are in the process of repairing some of the defences around the River Exe, which means they've lowered the water level significantly over the past 2 weeks, and while it's low, they seem to be removing some of the junk from it! I found this yesterday while walking along the river during my lunch break!

As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Great capture! That's really terrible littering though. Happy Valentine's Day!

@{H} creatives: I've been asked that before, It's just a case of both of us having surnames beginning with a B I guess (I'm a Brock!)

Who would just throw a bike in a river? I am jealous of the green grass...hurry up spring! The focus looks like it is on the grass and misssed the bike a bit, but I love the composition!

@Tracey: Some of the stuff you can see in the depths is strange, bikes trollies etc! I did notice the focus point myself, but only after I had uploaded it to my computer!

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Interesting effect that the waves have on the bike and the bank. If I fix my eyes on the bike, or the grass, it seems like the water is moving!

@Steven: Didn't even notice that myself Steven!

Steven from Montreal, Canada

I like the POV, it looks like it could be slipping back in.

@Steven: It's actually some distance from the edge, it just doesn't look like it!

MaryB from Staffordshire, United Kingdom

I like the way it looks like it's trying to claw it's way up the bank, It certainly is amazing what people throw in rivers.
Happy Valentines day.

Graham Russon from Cape Town, South Africa

This is great shot, the contrast between the water and grass is marvelous. Perhaps the bike could be a bit more off center, closer to the left.

@Graham Russon: Thanks for the feedback Graham

Stunner from Kingston, Jamaica
