One Foggy Day #5Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 19 February 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. The last shot (for now) from my trip to Langport last Wednesday, and my favourite I think! As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

@Kelly: Thanks Kelly pLusOne from Cheonan, South KoreaGreat photo, DaveB. 19 Feb 2008 6:42am @pLusOne: It is pLusOne, I prefer this to yesterdays! Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaSuperb, Dave. That reflection of the bridge is amazing. 19 Feb 2008 7:14am @Michael Skorulski: Thanks Michael ManuelaR from Hainburg, GermanyFabulous Dave, such moody shot and love the soft tones ;) 19 Feb 2008 8:49am @ManuelaR: Thanks Manuela Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaMmm old world charm is so, so appealing, I could stay there for quite a while. Bravo in this series Dave and I'm glad I have the opportunity of going back to see the other photos. Excellent mood shots! 19 Feb 2008 9:17am @Lorraine: Thanks Lorraine Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, FranceA very romantic place. Cheers for the mist. 19 Feb 2008 12:17pm @Calusarus: I'd like to take credit for it but I can't! Thanks for your comment! Samuelw from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysiaits a beautiful shot...romantic place to be at 19 Feb 2008 1:28pm @Samuelw: Thanks Samuel @Helma: Thanks Helma Jason Kravitz from Brussels, BelgiumI like the composition, mood and atmosphere but my only criticism is that it lacks contrast or is possibly a bit over-exposed. A slight curve adjustment might darken it up a bit and really make it pop. 19 Feb 2008 3:36pm @Jason Kravitz: Thanks for the feedback Jason, I know what you mean about the colour, but I wanted to keep them a bit muted to reflect what the day was like! Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaDefinitely my favorite from this series, I love the mirror reflection of the bridge. The composition, mood and colours are marvelous. Almost like a painting, great shot. 19 Feb 2008 7:42pm @Graham Russon: Thanks Graham standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceJust a superb shot. I love the bridge relection! 19 Feb 2008 8:10pm @standley: Thanks Standley MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomGreat atmosphere, I really like the haunting mist and again the reflection. My favourites of the series are 1 & 2 :) 19 Feb 2008 8:24pm @MaryB: Each to their own Mary! :) amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaAh, now this one is my favourite. Very nicely framed and that reflection of the bridge is the best. Love the softness the dissipating fog lends this. 19 Feb 2008 9:31pm @amy: Thanks Amy Betty from United StatesThis is a great shot, wonderful composition. Love the reflection. This one is my favorite! Beautiful. 19 Feb 2008 11:36pm @Betty: Thanks Betty drphoto from Newcastle upon Tyne, United KingdomYes it has been very foggy recently; I'm glad someone is making use of it! I like this shot but do feel you could have boosted the contrast without losing the atmosphere and I can't decide if the bridge is on a slope or the horizon is off! Which is it Dave?! Dan 20 Feb 2008 3:21am @drphoto: I don't think the horizons off looking at it, it must be the bridge! I'm not usually up early enough to shoot in the fog, so it was a nice change! Anne from White Rock, BC, CanadaLovely image with a really moody bit of fog! The first thing I noticed was that the bridge doesn't look straight! But, maybe the bridge is not perfectly straight!! The trees on the left are perfectly vertical with the edge of the photo - so I don't believe it is camera tilt. However, you could maybe pull up just the one side using the perspective crop or something, so that the bridge doesn't appear to be leaning down to the right. More contrast would make it pop more - but too much might darken the water so that your reflection darkens too much! I like it anyway simply because it is soft and moody! ;-) 20 Feb 2008 11:32pm @Anne: Thanks for the feeback Anne, I'm pretty happy with the softness in the shot! |
