Exmouth Sunset #3

Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 26 February 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Another shot taken at Exmouth, this was shot looking almost directly into the setting sun, which provided a really cool lighting effect which quite accurately mirrored how it looked in real life.

As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Tracey from White Hall, United States

Beautiful colors! All of the boats look like they are stranded on the sand! I hope that wasn't the case! I wish the horizon line wasn't dead center, as it splits the frame in half...but otherwise it is gorgeous!

26 Feb 2008 4:31pm

@Tracey: I sorta agree with you Tracey, the only way to get this shot was to centre the sun in the shot and centre-meter it, as otherwise it came out way too bright! If you take the horizon as being the top of the hill though, it's nicely divided into thirds (well almost!)

TILALA from bordeaux, France

Tse Min from Melbourne, Australia

i like the way it's taken. although i don't like too much of a sky, but u've gotta keep the land a bit more. so i think this is great stuff. lovely warm colours.

26 Feb 2008 8:47pm

@Tse Min: Thanks Tse Min. I actually prefer having the sky in there

Jon Leonard from United Kingdom

Taken a nice sunset shot when it comes out well is always satisfying. The orange reflection glow in the water has come out really well. Makes me wish I was back down that way again. I am originally from Cornwall but now live in Basingstoke.

@Jon Leonard: Thanks Jon, I'm up in Scotland at the mo and when it starts raining it's making me wish I was back down aswel, not like the weather was much better!

Alphons from Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands

Marvellous sunset shot, because of the varied waterplains.
