Stranded

Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 6 March 2008 in Landscape & Rural.

Taken quite a while ago in Lyme Regis, at the same time as this one was taken!

This is another shot I've played around with a fair bit using layer masks and smart filters. I'm wondering if anyone can explain to me the advantages of using masks for things like levels and curves? The main advantage I've found is that you can turn them on and off after you've put them on so that you can review changes to the original image and see the effect of different masks! Anything else?

As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Wonderful scenery, is that an old pier?

@ManuelaR: Not quite, I think they're coastal defences both to stop the beach drifting away and also to moor boats to
