Shipwrecked

Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 17 September 2008 in Cityscape & Urban.

A bit of flotsam dumped in the barracks in South Queensferry; I'm not sure if I like this or not, sometimes when I look at it, it seems too flat, other times it seems grand. As always, let me know!

As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Zygene from morlaix, France

Un étonnant endroit pour laisser mourir son bateau.

Graham Russon from Cape Town, South Africa

First glance it does seem a bit flat and bland. But after a closer inspection, I liked it.

I like the photo, as for the remains of the boat, I'm not sure....

@Wolfgang - vu@granby: Me neither Wolfgang

Mirko Herzner from Mühlheim am Main, Germany

I understand your worries. For me it's more flat. But still an interesting shot.

A nice discovery Dave, in what seems like a forgotten corner. I'd like to see it a bit darker with more contrast.

@Observing: I know what you mean Mike, I think I need something to make the boat stand out more...

akarui from Kagoshima, Japan

Not much left... What would you think about a crop on the left (cutting may be on the first angle of the house) and remove the left window?

18 Sep 2008 12:39am

@akarui: I know where you're coming from, but it's already been heavily cropped, and what you suggest would centre the boat, which I didn't want to do!

Lally from Salem, United States

i think it has a great abandonment theme behind it i love the flat tones. i think i makes this shot
