I played around with the image I posted yesterday but quickley realised it looked like cack! So here's another 3-shot HDR sequence. Although i don't like the softness in the background, thats my fault while focussing rather than anything to do with the HDR processing!

As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Ronnie 2¢ from London, United Kingdom

The kind of image that makes me want to take a course in geology ! How I envy those who can walk something like that and tell the history.

25 Feb 2009 1:19pm

@Ronnie 2¢: Thanks Ronnie, here's a potted history: The sediments are Devonian (410 - 350 million years ago), and the deformation is thought to have occurred during the Variscan Orogeny (A northern-european mountain-building event about 300 years ago). Along with this, they may have been cooked slightly by igneous intrusion; personal opinion more than anything else, you don't usually get colours like that in "fresh" sediments!

Sometimes a geology degree does come in useful! :)
