Be Like WaterPosted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 9 April 2009 in People & Portrait and Portfolio. This image is a personal favourite for a number of reasons: 1. Shot using completely manual settings, just so I could test myself. I've another few of this guy which I may well play around with later As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

@Didier DE ZAN: Thanks Didier @Craig: Thanks Craig @BoB: True, thanks for your comment Mike from Lichfield, United KingdomNice shot Dave. Makes me wonder what he's thinking. He's probably looking at the lack of swell and seciding not to bother taking his surf board out. 9 Apr 2009 9:30am @Mike: I think he was actually watching his kid surf, but I'm not sure zOOm from Paris, FranceWhat a nice view.. so peaceful and quite. Thanks for this walk on the beach ! 9 Apr 2009 10:36am @zOOm: Thanks for the comment zOOm Scene by Sharon Photography from Kingston, Ontario, Canadaahhh ... very serene photo 9 Apr 2009 10:52am @Scene by Sharon Photography: Thanks Sharon @Eleftheria: Thanks Eleftheria Tracy from La Selva Beach, United StatesYou chose well for this one. The DOF is perfect-just enough so that we know what is going on, but not so much that your main subject gets lost in the rest of the photo. The exposure is excellent- It give a nice mood to the entire scene! Fantastic! 9 Apr 2009 1:25pm @Tracy: Thanks Tracy Diane Schuller from Hythe, CanadaI actually prefer this by far to the one at Chromasia. Much more natural and real without a sense it may have been staged (as the one at Chromasia certainly appears to be). The soft tones you captured matches the mood of this young man. Your exposure was right on. 9 Apr 2009 2:42pm @Diane Schuller: Wow, a favourable comparison to Dave Nightingale, I love you forever! :) Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceYes indeed it's a pleasant shot. He gazes in contemplation at the sea and we can feel there the osmosis of an human being with nature... 9 Apr 2009 4:35pm @Evelyne Dubos: Thanks Evelyne Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomWell, the Chromasia one is exceptional because it is kinda freaky but yours is something we can all relate to . . the guy standing there seeming to hope just the isolation will help him sort whatever is on his mind. Great human stuff. 9 Apr 2009 6:09pm @Ronnie 2¢: Thanks Ronnie @DenisSm: Thanks Denis @Alun Lambert: Thanks Alun Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaA picture tells a thousand words, and you did it with this one. Great shot. 9 Apr 2009 7:31pm @Graham Russon: Thanks Graham Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesI think this is a great image. Very well done. 9 Apr 2009 9:22pm @Steve Rice: Thanks Steve @akarui: Thanks Akarui Ted from South Wales, United Kingdomnice study of contempation & solitude...a great shot. While I am a fan of Chromasia as well, your guy is more sympathetic to the scenery, more casual and so I prefer our shot. 20 Jul 2009 7:02pm @Ted: Thanks ted |
