Surfs Up #2

Posted by DaveB (Exeter, United Kingdom) on 13 April 2009 in People & Portrait.

I'll try to alternate some surfing images over the next period so as not to overload with the HDR stuff; another one from Woolacombe

As always, comments are welcome, particularly those offering feedback and criticism on my images! (It's the only way I'll learn!) :)

Bill from Los Altos, United States

Gorgeous. Makes me want to dive into HDR soon. can you tell me more about this shot and how you used HDR for it?

@Bill: Sorry Bill, this is one of my non-HDR images; look to yesterday for some tone-mapped goodness!

Oh i have to think about a new zoom lens. Which one did you use? Because i think that this pic works really great. Very very great scene!

@Nicki: Thanks Nicki, this was taken with a sigma 70-300. Not bad for a beginner zoom, but very soft at long focal lengths

such a fine shot with him heading out into the surf and backlit so well. There's a real nice feel to this image. I also really like the amount of detail -- almost like a shot done with film
